Guitar Hero 5 is set to ship Sept. 1 and as the date nears, Activision is filling players in a little more with its on-disc content. The following 24 songs were confirmed as immediately playable on the disc:

"Back Round" by Wolfmother is the first single off the band's upcoming album and if you're a fan of the band, you'll be pleased to know the game's official site is offering the track as a free .mp3 download. The release also notes GH5 is the first video game appearance for the bands Band of Horses, Darkest Hour, Elliott Smith, John Mellencamp, Rose Hill Drive, The Bronx, Tom Petty and Vampire Weekend.

However, Activision is also still trucking along with World Tour DLC, with the company announcing the following lineup for the near future:

Konami Announces Rhythm-Walking Game Walk It Out

Konami announced it is currently amid development of a Nintendo Wii title that aims to combine elements of exergaming with rhythm. The title of the game is Walk It Out, in which players will walk to the beat of music as they explore a number of different environments such as country fields, suburbs, skyscrapers and ocean-side environments.

The game is compatible with the DanceDanceRevolution floor mat for the Wii as well as the Wii Remote, Nunchuk and Balance Board. As players participate in gamepaly, charts, graphs and other visuals keep track of stats such as calories burned, distance traveled, steps taken and more. And what would a Wii game be without mini-games? Walk It Out will also feature a number of mini-games to entertain players outside of the main mode.

Right now, the game is set to include 120 (?!?) songs, with the only titles announced so far being:

"Boom Boom Pow" by The Black Eyed Peas
"La La Land" by Demi Lovato
"How Do You Sleep" by Jesse McCartney

It's not clear how long each song will be, how exactly they will be implemented in game play, whether or not the songs are covers, etc., but we do have screen shots and a video and will continue to follow the title as new details are unveiled.

beatmania IIDX 16 EMPRESS + PREMIUM BEST announced!

I know we're a couple days late on this, post Anime Expo stuff has really bogged my personal schedule down, but in the latest issues of Japanese gaming mags "Dengeki" and "Famitsu" it was confirmed that beatmania IIDX EMPRESS + PREMIUM BEST is coming out for PlayStation 2 on October 15th, 2009. The game is said to be on 2 discs (as per the Dengeki article) with over 180 songs and will sell for 7980 Yen (about $15 more than previous titles in the series).

This announcement helps the previously posted IIDX AC score submission list make much more sense, although it doesn't provide any details on what PREMIUM BEST is going to entail. We have a general idea of the song list for both discs, but as of yat have no information on extra songs, 5-key revivals, or extra charts. We'll just have to keep an eye out as the title comes closer to release.

New DLC Hits Unplugged, One Freebie

Harmonix has placed five new DLC tracks into the Rock Band Unplugged (PSP) catalog, bumping the number of DLC tracks offered for the game up to 19.

Of course, as is the case on all Rock Band releases, "Still Alive" is free to download. All other tracks can be downloaded at the cost of $1.99.

Three Bemani Albums Lined Up for -Re Editions-

"For those who didn't manage to buy dj Taka's Milestone, Sota's SYNTHESIZED, and Tomosuke's Marble when they were released, fret not, because those three albums will be released again.

Announced on the Konamistyle site today, those three albums will be re-released with a -RE EDITION- label, meaning that there will be some additions and/or changes to the track listing.

Here are the additions/changes for the following albums:

Milestone -RE EDITION-:
- 天空脳番長危機十�*連打 -十�*連打無版- remixed by SLAKE has been added on the remixes.

Also, if I'm reading the Bemani Artist Album Selection page correctly, it seems Konami is being generous by offering free shipping on select CDs through Aug. 31. You can see the full offerings at the bottom of the page, but the sale includes albums from Des-Row, Akira Yamaoka, Terra, good-cool, L.E.D. and more.

Konami of Europe Showcases New DDR Titles at Japan Expo

France was again host to the 10th annual Japan Expo where Konami of Europe was out in full force with an impressive booth featuring Naoki Maeda and various new DDR titles.

The two upcoming Wii titles were the only games demoed on stage by Naoki. It is interesting to note that the title names of these games have been changed from the US to EU; DanceDanceRevolution Wii -> Hottest Party 3 and pop'n music -> pop'n rhythm. I would prefer these names over the US titles, either way it is very confusing.

Naoki had the new DanceDanceRevolution PS3 8 panel soft pad in hand, but the game was only shown as a demo gameplay video.

On Stage, the newly redesigned DDR X AC cabinet was also present which still had problems with visual latency although, from what I've heard from the French players, the pads preformed surprisingly well.

Unfortunately the only game on the floor for public play was Hottest Party 2.

Activision today released a few new videos to showcase its upcoming DJ Hero title, featuring two versus tracks, comprised of two songs each: Herbie Hancock's "Rockit" vs. N.E.R.D.'s "Lapdance" and GrandMaster Flash Featuring DJ Kool & DJ Demo's "Here Comes My DJ" vs. Gary Numan's "Cars."

SIRIUS Primes Up For New Location Test

Konami's arcade game portal is now reporting beatmania IIDX 17 SIRIUS will be undergoing a second run of location testings at two locations from June 30 - July 5. You can view the times and locations at the game's official location testing page. The top location on the test page is King Joy in Nagoya, while the bottom location is at Dinos Park in the Norbesa.

Being that Anime Expo is only a week away this may seem like a late announcement. Either way, PM Studios is being ever so gracious and hosting us at their booth at Anime Expo 2009. We'll have some bemanistyle T-Shirts available at the booth for $15 a piece along with some select albums from the mydjsobad inventory available for sale. PM Studios is doing a whole bunch of really cool stuff to promote DJ MAX TECHNIKA and DJ MAX FEVER.

First of all, they're gonna have some really killer sales on DJ MAX merchandise, including some brand new wall scrolls of the girls from the First Kiss video. Along with that there will be a couple of contests. You can see the pricing and what will be available in the attached image, the contests breakdown as such:

Technika testing AGAIN!

While DJ MAX TECHNIKA has been doing phenomenal in most locations since it's release a couple of a weeks ago, some arcades still feel the need to test the waters with the title. Given the state of arcades in the US, and the amount of crap being pushed out into the field (I won't point any fingers) I can't really say I blame to them too much. This time around, Mulligan Family Fun Centers of California are holding a test of their own. The Torrance, CA location received a machine yesterday and will be holding a limited test presumably to decide on whether they'd like to make the investment or not.

That being said, anyone living in the Torrance/Hawthorne/Redondo Beach area should go check it out. No word on whether they have cards available for purchase or not (if you still need one, PM Studios is still offering them to bemanistyle users via the banner on the top page.) or how much it costs per game. If we can find the time to make it up there to check it out we'll update with more details.

New Scratch Video Showcases Game Controller

The past few weeks has seen a lot of buzz around DJ Hero and just when you thought maybe Scratch: The Ultimate DJ was being drown out into obscurity, Genius has come forth at the end of the week to provide a video showcasing the controller it is so proud of. While the video centers around the controller, snippets of game play video are shown in the trailer.

Americans might be waiting longer for e-amusement

Just to pack another blow on Betson's DDR X dedicabs, I was just told from an unnamed source (that had absolutely no prior knowledge of Supernova 2) that the e-amusement connector boxes are not being distributed because they were told from Betson "people at a New Jersey test location hacked into the machine, thus a rights issue needs to be resolved first to prevent further hacking."

pop'n Wii First JP Songs, LE Detailed

Konamistyle now has an official Web site posted to provide product information on the Wii version of pop'n music, detailing that the edition will receive an LE version and revealing a small chunk of the title's songs. The limited edition version of the title will tack on about 2,000 extra Yen, but it is slated to come included with a "pop'n music mascot collection." It appears there will be 10 different charms molded for the collection, including Mimi & Nyami, Yuli, Ash, MZD, Roku and more (see the attached picture), which can be attached to an "I <3 PNM" Wii Remote-shaped collectible (to avoid confusion, please note this is not an electronic, playable remote for your Wii system).

If you need even more collectibles for your pop'n fix, Konami is doing a preorder campaign for a mascot bank set, modeled after characters appearing in 16 PARTY. The company will have to receive at least 2,000 preorders to pump out the set, which will cost 6,000 Yen (roughly $61.10 U.S. right now).

So it's been a few days since the donation drive started, and as we said before we're not just going to ask for your money outright. We were waiting on a few things to come through regarding some cool, rare merchandise that we could raffle off and the first bit of that came last night. We're going to have a few other raffles as the donation drive continues and the rules will be the same for each. Rather than raffle off random stuff, we're gonna be giving everyone the opportunity to win stuff that has always been pretty pricey.

The first item up for grabs via raffle is a beatmania IIDX 12 HAPPY SKY Tapestry. Also known as an archstand (although without the stand itself it really isn't), these are given as an option for arcade owners in Japan to promote their new games when they come out. The tapestries themselves always seem to be a little bit more rare, likely due to the space they take up and how easily they can walk when placed outside of a location.

One of these same tapestries recently sold at the Tokyo Game Action auction for over $400. To say it's a desirable piece of merchandise is an understatement.

Raffle tickets cost $5 each and will be available for purchase through July 31st, 2009. The winner of the raffle will be picked and announced on August 3rd, 2009. This raffle is open to everyone in every country, whether they're registered on bemanistyle or not. Purchasing multiple tickets is okay but they have to be done in separate donations so we can keep track of them. Just click the button below to donate.

All ticket purchases MUST include your address as we plan to ship the item the same day we draw the winner. The winner will be picked on video by myself and a special guest staff member and then posted online to confirm authenticity.
